BUS 2231 - Exercise - Suspense Account

This maybe the last suspense exercise for the semester.....mostly debit and credit for all transactions;

1. Sales on credit to Mr Ahmad RM2,000
2. Payment of rental by cheque to Fadhil Realty RM3,000
3. Electricity expenses were accrued by RM100
4. Salary was prepaid by RM1,000
5. Sales were understated by RM500
6. Purchases were over-recorded by RM800
7. Sales to Mohamad RM300 was recorded in Mohamed's account
8. Payment from Rita RM200 was totally omitted from both books
9. Discounts allowed given to Tesco RM50 was wrongly recorded as discount received.
10. Payment to Rudaini RM1,000 was recorded as RM100 in Rudaini's account
11. Rental payment made to Ali RM2,500 was omitted in the rental's account.
12. and..... how about treating with some cold drinks? Can I put as accrued drinks to me?

DOM 2234 - Capital Expenditure and Revenue Expenditure

Expenditure on fixed assets may be classified into Capital Expenditure and Revenue Expenditure. The distinction between the nature of capital and revenue expenditure is important as only capital expenditure is included in the cost of fixed asset.

Capital Expenditure

Capital expenditure includes costs incurred on the acquisition of a fixed asset and any subsequent expenditure that increases the earning capacity of an existing fixed asset.

The cost of acquisition not only includes the cost of purchases but also any additional costs incurred in bringing the fixed asset into its present location and condition (e.g. delivery costs).

Capital expenditure, as opposed to revenue expenditure, is generally of a one-off kind and its benefit is derived over several accounting periods. Capital Expenditure may include the following:

• Purchase costs (less any discount received)
• Delivery costs
• Legal charges
• Installation costs
• Up gradation costs
• Replacement costs

Revenue expenditure incurred on fixed assets include costs that are aimed at 'maintaining' rather than enhancing the earning capacity of the assets. These are costs that are incurred on a regular basis and the benefit from these costs is obtained over a relatively short period of time. For example, a company buys a machine for the production of biscuits. Whereas the initial purchase and installation costs would be classified as capital expenditure, any subsequent repair and maintenance charges incurred in the future will be classified as revenue expenditure. This is so because repair and maintenance costs do not increase the earning capacity of the machine but only maintains it (i.e. machine will produce the same quantity of biscuits as it did when it was first put to use).

Revenue costs therefore comprise of the following:

• Repair costs
• Maintenance charges
• Repainting costs
• Renewal expenses

The new semester will be commencing on 19th March 2018, that will be considered as your Week 1. Your 12 week journey with me will be on board of my ship known as Advanced Management Accounting. Hmmm...the course sounds quite eerie but it will be more horrified if you don't study them. 

Your course starts on Tuesday, which means on the second day of Week 1. Attendance is much compulsory as it your duty to do so as a student designated.

Simple rule....Read more. Whatever that posted in this blog and in the Moodle. Read more, Google, Youtube. Develop your critical thinking. Ask questions in class as I will only be assisting you. You will be moderated by the Feds! Not the FBI, it is the FedUni.

So, why wait? Go to your Moodle and start reading...For me, I'm just starting to use Moodle, just gotten the password for Moodle. Not as you guys, experts in using the program and that is not the reason to be quiet and having late submission of the assignments.

Lastly, again, I welcome all of you and good luck for your entire semester which will be captained by me! Muahahahahaha!!!!!

It has come to my attention and concern especially for DOM students as the final exam is nearing every seconds as we speak....

We had our time, we had our chances, we had the given opportunities and privileges, we worry and sometimes we laugh together.

Still....

I am very concerned regarding the performance of the DOM2234 students of all sections. You guys need to work extra hard. Even though this subject is not a course core subject but still you need to know the basics as these basics are useful in the future. My advice is, either you do or you don't. If you are confident to sit for the exam, then you need to do the necessary, if not, I'm willing to sign the withdrawal form for you. Go tactical and be smart.

Be responsible and fair to yourself and others.

The title of this posting is quite deep yet understandable. Just think....
